Systems built for the company you're becoming.

We design and build new software from scratch, and fix the systems your business has outgrown, without stopping the business that runs on them.

A typical system, annotatedA web app and job worker talk to an API and a legacy billing service, which both read from a Postgres database. Finding 1: Slow query under load. Finding 2: A service nobody owns. Finding 3: Deploys done by hand. Finding 4: Idle servers billed monthly.web appapijob workerlegacy billingpostgres
  1. Slow query under load
  2. A service nobody owns
  3. Deploys done by hand
  4. Idle servers billed monthly

What you get, either way.

Whether we start from a blank page or from years of history, every engagement ends with results you can check.

Building something new

  • From idea to production

We shape what to build with you, design the architecture, and ship working software you can try every couple of weeks.

  • Built to keep growing

Tests, documentation and a delivery pipeline from day one, so the system doesn't need rescuing in two years.

  • Ready to hand over

Full source code, runbooks and a structured handover, so your team can run it without us.

  • Scope and cost agreed up front

A Statement of Work sets the scope, timeline and price before any build starts, so there are no surprises halfway through.

Fixing what you have

  • Pages and reports are fast again

We measure the slow paths under real load, fix the ones that matter, and show you the before and after.

  • Every system has an owner and a map

Architecture, runbooks and ownership are written down and handed over, so nothing depends on one person's memory.

  • Releases become routine

Changes ship through a tested pipeline with fast rollback, so a deploy stops being an event.

  • Your cloud bill makes sense

Every resource has a purpose, an owner and a budget. What is idle gets switched off.

We understand before we build.

Whether it's a new product or a system that's struggling, every engagement starts with the problem, not with a technology.

  1. 01

    Discovery

We talk to the people who will use it and the engineers who know what exists today, read the incident reports, and measure before recommending anything.

  2. 02

    Design

We write down what we would build or change and in what order, with the architecture, risk and effort of each. You agree the plan before any code is written.

  3. 03

    Build

Small, reversible changes with code review and automated tests, released one at a time and measured against the baseline.

  4. 04

    Optimize

After launch we keep measuring, hand over documentation and runbooks, and stay on for support if you want us to.

Questions we get asked.

Something not covered here? Email info@vertex-labs.org.

What kind of companies do you work with?

Founders building a new product, growing companies hitting their first scaling limits, and established businesses carrying years of legacy. We work with clients worldwide.

How does an engagement start?

With a conversation. Email info@vertex-labs.org with a short note about your systems and goals. We reply with questions, then run a discovery phase before recommending anything.

How is pricing structured?

Scope, deliverables, timeline and pricing are agreed up front in a Statement of Work for each engagement, so you know what you are paying for before work begins.

Who owns what you build?

Once paid for, you receive a perpetual licence to everything we build specifically for you, as set out in our Terms of Service. Different terms can be agreed in your contract.

What happens after the project ends?

We don't disappear after delivery. Every engagement ends with documentation and a handover to your team, and we can stay on for ongoing support and optimisation.

What if you're not the right fit?

We'll tell you. We only take engagements where we're confident we can make a real difference, and we'd rather say so early than waste your time.

Tell us what you're building, or what's not working.

A short email about your idea or your systems is enough to start. We reply with questions, not a sales deck, and we'll tell you honestly if we're not the right fit.
